What does Just Live do?
Just Live is dedicated to helping individuals, through advocacy, education, information and service, who are currently struggling in life; so they may improve their overall mental health.
Essentially, we are an organization that provides information about suicide prevention, education, and awareness as well as financial assistance to those in need. We collaborate with many other neighboring agencies in the mental health field to assist individuals, professional organizations and the community. Can you recommend a counselor, therapist or psychiatrist?
We can't recommend or endorse a specific therapist, counselor or psychiatrist. However, we do offer an online Therapist Directory for Kenosha County on our Resource page. In addition, we offer a Resource Directory for Kenosha County which provides information about mental health services, advocacy organizations, help lines and more. If you are outside of Kenosha County, we suggest you try a crisis number or the texting hotline.
Does Just Live provide counseling?
No. We do not provide counseling or direct services but may be able to refer you to a clinic (see above).
Who does Just Live serve?
Just Live serves individuals, schools, workplaces, senior centers, support groups and community organizations in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth Counties. Just Live is strongly committed to ensuring that quality suicide education and awareness programs reach minority, low-income, women, children and elderly communities.
The people we serve range from those who are mentally healthy, such as those attending workplace presentations and training, to those who are struggling to recover from serious depression or other mental health illnesses. We serve a broad range of socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures, family types and age groups.
Does Just Live provide any programs or support groups for people with mental illness?
Yes. The Strong Families Healthy Homes Program that MHA offers targets parents with chronic mental illness and teaches them life skills that help them raise healthy children. The goal is to keep parents and their children together through support and advocacy.
MHA also offers a Survivors Helping Survivors support group is for people who have suffered the loss of a loved one to suicide. The group is led by mental health professionals who volunteer their services. We also list other mental health-related support groups sponsored by other agencies and organizations. Just Live will assist in collaborating with this agency and provide financial support to those who may qualify for this program.
How does Just Live advocate for people with mental illness?
One way we support people who suffer from depression is by being involved in several statewide initiatives such as the Prevent Suicide Wisconsin and Erika’s Lighthouse who both seek to intervene earlier with persons at risk of depression, mental illness or suicide.
Are you part of any Mental Health Complex?
No. The County Mental Health Complex provides direct services to patients with a mental illness who are uninsured.
We are a private, non-profit (501c3) organization that provides suicide awareness, education and prevention information, as well as financial assistance to those who may be depressed and suicidal.
Who funds Just Live?
Just Live is funded through a variety of sources including: corporate contributions; individual donations; memorials; bequests and foundation grants. View our Annual Report for a listing of our funders.
